About SinoTESOL
SinoTESOL is the China Organization of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Although English language pedagogy is the primary focus of our organization and our membership, on a practical level we include multicultural education, applied linguistics, and communication studies as interdisciplinary relevant areas. Similarly, our members are not only teachers, but also students, researchers, administrators, and other education professionals. --- Our ongoing objective is to support and sgtrengthen the development of English and multicultural education teaching in China and her territories; to sustain it as it develops; and to safeguard its integrity. We will do so by: Serving the community. Provide guidance and assistance to local and state governing bodies and their educational institutions, as well as to those in the private sector, in the execution and adherence of high standards in English and multicultural education pedagogy. Serving the membership. Inform members of up-to-date news, events, and developments; serve as an outlet of resources for continuing and professional education programs; to provide a forum, both physical and digital, for an ongoing exchange of ideas. Serving the field. Promote excellence in education in general, and TESOL in particular, through advocacy, outreach, publication, and other communication efforts. --- Although based in Beijing, we are truly an international organization. We serve Greater China, including mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Tibet and Inner Mongolia. Our administrative tasks are performed in both China and the United States, our internet servers reside in the UK, and, of course, our members come from over many different countries. Our website launched in April, 2005 after almost a year of discussion and preparation among concerned members. Our first conference is scheduled for fall, 2006.
